Acting head of Odesa region district court suspected of bribe-taking

On Sept. 30, 2023, NABU and SAPO served suspicion notice on the acting head of the Kominternivskyi district court of the Odesa region. He had been caught red-handed the day before after receiving UAH 50,000 (USD 1,300) in bribe. His actions fall under Part 3 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

As established, the judge solicited and received an undue advantage of UAH 50,000 from a person in exchange for making decisions on securing a lawsuit and requesting documents in a civil case.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
