Regional council deputy exposed extorting bribe from a serviceman
On 20 March 2024, NABU and SAPO, in cooperation with the SSU, exposed a deputy of the Regional Council, head of the budget committee, who solicited and received an undue advantage from a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in January 2024, the official offered the military to assist him in obtaining financial aid for treatment. In return, after the funds were deposited onto the serviceman's bank card, he was to give the official half the amount.
The deputy was detained red-handed after receiving the undue advantage.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
