UAH 93 million losses at Energoatom: investigation completed
NABU and SAPO have completed an investigation of a former official of the State Enterprise "National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom", charged with abuse of office during an auction for the sale of electricity in September 2020.
The investigation found that when Energoatom organized an auction for the sale of electricity, the suspect intentionally created conditions under which the winner was a participant who offered a price of UAH 1,120 per 1 MW/h and with whom a contract for the purchase and sale of electricity was subsequently signed. Other participants in the auction though offered higher prices - up to UAH 1,300 per 1 MW/h.
As a result of selling 1,465,000 MW/h of electricity at a reduced price, the state-owned enterprise failed to receive income in the amount of UAH 93.76 million.
The former Energoatom official was notified of suspicion under Part 2 Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in February 2023.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
