"The anti-corruption infrastructure - NABU, SAPO, HACC, NACP - has been set up in Ukraine and is successfully operating. Nonetheless, we constantly feel pressure; there are permanent attempts to destroy the independence of anti-corruption bodies. Due to the support of international partners and civil society, we remain independent in our investigations and keep exposing top-level corruption. People have finally seen the long-awaited sentences," Artem Sytnyk said at a panel discussion “Eastern Partnership: Crisis and Opportunities”, May 20, 2021.  

"The G7 is still highly interested in the fight against corruption in Ukraine. We closely monitor the latest developments around the National Bureau and other anti-corruption bodies in Ukraine," said Melinda Simmons, the British Ambassador to Ukraine, during a visit to the National Bureau. It should be noted that the UK currently holds the G7 Precedency.

"For almost 6 years of our work, we have tracked down Ukrainian corruption in about 80 countries. These are the countries where participants in NABU cases, namely high-ranking officials, took the funds stolen in Ukraine and later legalized them. It is difficult to name the amount that has been siphoned off from Ukraine through corruption schemes. We can assume we are talking about billions," said Artem Sytnyk, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, during the III International Criminal Law Forum.

In 2020, the anti-corruption system faced a defiant influence not seen in previous years. Despite the growing pressure, even the existence of such an institution as the National Bureau should be considered as a victory. It was emphasized by the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk at the Transparency International presentation of the Corruption Perceptions Index 2020 (CPI).

For the first time in the history of Ukraine, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine considered the issue of the constitutionality of an act of inpidual action, despite the opposite previous long-term judicial practice. However, the fact that the Presidential Decree on Appointment on the NABU Director is declared unconstitutional does not terminate the powers of the NABU Director or any other person who is appointed by the President, and does not automatically mean his dismissal. Until the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts the amendments to the legislation, Artem Sytnyk has the right to exercise his powers as the NABU Director. Therefore, currently NABU is operates normally.
