NABU and SAPO conducted a large-scale operation called “Clean City” to eliminate corruption in the land and budget sphere of Kyiv. The activities of a criminal organization headed by a media-famous former deputy of the Kyiv City Council (KCC) were exposed and terminated. One of the key activities involved seizing valuable land for development and influencing the local authorities' decisions on granting land rights.
Due to the cooperation with the competent authorities of Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia NABU and SAPO exposed a criminal organization at Chernivtsi Customs Office. Among its members were well-known businessmen from Chernivtsi and officials of the Chernivtsi Customs Office , including its ex-head and a former deputy of the Chernivtsi Regional Council. Their actions aimed at minimizing customs payments through the scheme of so-called 'gray' imports caused almost UAH 290 million in losses to the state.
On April 3, 2024, NABU and SAPO notified four officials of Volyn Customs of suspicion of illegal minimization of customs payments and participation in a criminal scheme that caused UAH 475 million in losses to the state. Thus, the circle of suspects in this criminal investigation has expanded to 20 individuals.
On Feb. 12, 2024, NABU and SAPO, in cooperation with the SSU, exposed a criminal organization whose actions led to UAH 967 million in damages to the state in 2014-2018.
On Nov. 8, 2023, NABU and SAPO exposed a criminal organization whose members facilitated illegal minimization of customs payments through the schemes of so-called "black" and "gray" imports within the jurisdiction of the Volyn Customs, causing over UAH 475 million in losses to the state.
