$30,000 for development in Lutsk: new suspect

NABU and SAPO have served another group member with a notice of suspicion for receiving a bribe, following the Lutsk City Council's approval of a detailed site plan. At the time, the suspect headed one of the council’s factions.

According to the investigation, acting in collusion with the head of a faction in the Volyn Regional Council (a former MP) and the head of the same faction in the Lutsk City Council, he solicited a $30,000 bribe from a land user in Lutsk (also a former MP).
The former MP agreed to the proposal and handed over a portion of the funds — $15,000.
Three other suspects in the case had their charges updated. They are now additionally suspected of taking a $3,000 bribe from the same individual in exchange for their factions' votes to authorize the drafting and approval of the detailed plan.
The plan was necessary to facilitate the construction of 14 townhouses in Lutsk.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
