Proper cooperation is key to results: Semen Kryvonos met with representatives of Finland's National Bureau of Investigation
The peculiarities of the anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine, main challenges and gains of the National Bureau, and strengthening of international cooperation were topics at a meeting between NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and a delegation from Finland's National Bureau of Investigation led by Deputy Director Timo Kilpeläinen.
The head of NABU briefed the guests on the specifics of Ukraine's anti-corruption institutions and shared the bureau's recent successes in investigating top corruption.
Timo Kilpeläinen, for his part, noted the high level of expertise of NABU detectives involved in the joint investigation of the alleged laundering of Ukraine's MoD funds during the purchase of body armor worth EUR 5.7 million.
The participants of the meeting also paid special attention to enhancing investigation effectiveness by establishing an autonomous forensic institution and the implementation of NABU's right to conduct independent wiretapping. These steps require the support of international partners and the government.
Finally, the parties discussed the vectors of future cooperation in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
