Energy corruption: Energoatom branch official exposed for bribery
NABU and SAPO exposed the deputy general director of the Atomenergomash branch of NNEGC “Energoatom” for soliciting and receiving unlawful benefits from a representative of a contractor company.
As established, the official demanded monthly “kickbacks” in exchange for ensuring timely payment for works performed under contracts and not obstructing the fulfillment of contractual obligations. The “reward” amounted to between 10% and 15% of the contract value.
Between June and November 2025, the official received unlawful benefits totaling approximately UAH 1.67 million (equivalent to USD 40,200). The total amount of unlawful benefit she demanded exceeded UAH 6.6 million.
The official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Legal qualification: Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving an unlawful benefit by an official in an especially large amount).
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
