Guarding EU and Ukraine's financial interests: EPPO, NABU signed Memorandum

Increasing the efficiency of investigations and preventing corruption schemes are the main goals of the Memorandum signed on July 3, 2023, by NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and European Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi.

"NABU already has successful experience of cooperation with foreign institutions, including the European Anti-Fraud Office and the European Investment Bank. I am confident that this Memorandum will strengthen Ukrainian and European anti-corruption cooperation," emphasized Semen Kryvonos.

The document specifically provides for training events, expert assistance, and the exchange of best practices in detecting and investigating financial crimes and corruption. 

"This Memorandum demonstrates the Bureau's intention to cooperate with the European Union on legal matters and contribute to the investigation of corruption crimes related to the EU budget," said Chief Prosecutor Laura Codruța Kövesi.

 

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) is an independent prosecution office of the European Union. It is responsible for investigating, prosecuting, and bringing to court crimes against the financial interests of the EU. These include various types of fraud, VAT fraud with damages exceeding 10 million EUR, money laundering, corruption etc.
