NABU strengthens cooperation with ANAC
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Italian National Anti-Corruption Authority (Autorità Nazionale Anticorruzione - ANAC) have reached an agreement on future cooperation in detecting and combating corruption crimes, exchanging information, and sharing best practices in prevention offences. The NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and ANAC President Giuseppe Busia signed the Memorandum on August 20, 2024.
The document envisages the exchange of information regarding legislative standards, best practices in corruption prevention, as well as insights into the latest scientific and technical developments and innovations in the fight against corruption.
This partnership is crucial to building a more just and transparent society, which will not only benefit our countries but also, be a good example to others.
The initiative for cooperation and the signing of the agreement took place with the support of the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Ukraine.
It should be reminded that at the end of July 2024, thanks to the cooperation of NABU and SAPO with the competent authorities of the Italian Republic, assets worth about EUR 41 million, belonging to a businessperson of Russian origin were seized. This person is implicated in a case involving over USD 60 million losses to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine PJSC. The seized assets include an ancient castle in Florence and the capital of several companies.
