UAH 16.7 million in illicit enrichment and non-declaration: judge exposed
NABU and SAPO have served a notice of suspicion on a judge of an appellate commercial court for illicit enrichment and false declaring.
According to the investigation, between 2020 and 2023, the suspect acquired an apartment and a parking space in a prestigious area of Lviv. The real estate, which the judge registered in his mother-in-law's name, was valued at UAH 16.7 million. At the same time, the judge’s official income, considering his legitimate expenses and savings, was insufficient to afford such property.
Furthermore, the suspect concealed the fact that he was living in a rented apartment by failing to declare it in his 2022–2023 annual e-declarations.
The suspect's actions fall under Article 368-5 and Part 1 Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
