Court chose preventive measures for the judges from Dnipro

On April 21, 2017, the Solomyansky District Court of Kyiv chose preventive measures for the Deputy Head of the District Court of Dnipro (in a form of house arrest on the 24-hours basis) and for a judge from the abovementioned court (in a form of house arrest from 10:00 p.m. to 06:00 a.m). It should be reminded that on April 19, 2017, the suspects were detained on receiving improper advantage.

The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) filed a request for choosing more stringent preventive measure for the court officials in a form of temporary custody with 800 thousand UAH alternative bail.

However, the court has denied the request.

It should be reminded that on April 19, 2017, the NABU Detectives jointly with the prosecutors of the SAPO and officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the Deputy Head of one of the District Courts of Dnipro and a judge of the same court.

The investigation revealed that the suspect by prior agreement with another judge of the same court demanded improper advantage in the amount of 30 000 USD for failing to pass the sentence in form of imprisonment. The cash was transferred in several tranches.

On April 20, 2017, the detained were given notices of suspicion. Previously according to Ukrainian legislation the SAPO obtained a corresponding  approval from the High Council of Justice.
