NABU, SAPO expose attempted bribery of SIAUP head

On Feb. 1, 2022, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) exposed a representative of a capital's developer who proposed and gave an unlawful benefit to the head of the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning of Ukraine (SIAUP).

According to the investigation, the detainee offered the SIAUP head about USD 120,000 for the illegal issue of a certificate of commissioning of a high-rise building in Kyiv, despite existing violations.

The man was caught red-handed and detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

NABU Detectives launched a pre-trial investigation after SIAUP chairman reported the bribe offer in December 2021.

As reported, on June 14, 2021, Director of the National Bureau Artem Sytnyk, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov, and SIAUP Chairman Semen Kryvonos signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen interagency work.
