NABU, SAPO expose attempted bribery of SMDC head
On Dec. 9, 2022, NABU, SAPO, and the SSU exposed a foreign entrepreneur, who offered and gave USD 10,000 in undue advantage to the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control.
As established, the entrepreneur offered the money to obtain a permit for the fast import of drugs classified as precursors and narcotics into the territory of Ukraine.
He was caught red-handed and detained under Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. His actions fall under Part 4 Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
NABU started investigating the above facts in November 2022 after a report by the SMDC head.
UPD: On Dec. 9, 2022, NABU and SAPO notified the entrepreneur of suspicion. The investigation is ongoing.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
