NABU to step up cooperation with Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, State Service for Urban Planning
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and the State Service for Urban Planning (SSUP) will strengthen cooperation in the sphere of prevention and fight against corruption. This is stated in the Memorandum signed on June 14, 2021, by NABU Director Artem Sytnyk, Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov and SSUP Head Semen Kryvonos.
"Combating corruption in the construction sphere has always been in the focus of attention of the NABU Detectives. For example, last year we referred a case to court against a developer who instead of construction of a pool for school, built a multi-level parking lot. Many of NABU`s investigations are ongoing. The Memorandum will facilitate faster exchange of information and effective investigation of corruption," Artem Sytnyk said.
In accordance with the Memorandum, parties are obliged to inform of signs of corruption and to respond to requests sent.
"Our goal is to completely overcome the so-called "schemes" and "fixed issues" in a sphere that was previously considered one of the most corrupt in Ukraine," Oleksii Chernyshov, the Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, said.
The signed document also provides for joint meetings and workshops. In addition, NABU will assist the SSUP in selecting bona fide officers.
"We are grateful to NABU for its support, which will ensure transparency in the work of SSUP," Semen Kryvonos stressed.
