NABU and UkrOboronProm will jointly fight corruption in the defense industry

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and UkrOboronProm State Concern will cooperate in the field of preventing and combating corruption. On November 23, 2020, the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the Acting Director General of Ukroboronprom SC Ihor Fomenko signed a Memorandum, which defines the main areas of cooperation and obligations of the parties.

"Fighting corruption in the defense industry is one of the priorities in the work of the NABU Detectives. At the same time, Ukroboronprom is a large-scale concern uniting more than 100 state-owned enterprises and factories. Therefore, the concluded Memorandum will facilitate a faster exchange of information and effective investigation of corruption," Artem Sytnyk stressed.

The new management of Ukroboronprom is currently rebuilding relations with all partners. According to Ihor Fomenko, the National Bureau is one of the key partners of the concern.

"NABU has proven its effectiveness in the fight against corruption in the defense industry. We need to join forces to minimize corruption risks and bring order to the activities of strategic state enterprises," said the Acting Director General of Ukroboronprom Ihor Fomenko.

For reference: within investigations of corruption schemes in the defense industry, the NABU Detectives filed more than 10 indictments against 30 accused persons, including officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, “SpetsTechnoExport” SE, “"Lviv Armor Vehicle Factor” SE, and “Aviakon” SE.

The total amount of established losses in these cases amounts UAH 88.5 mln.
