The NABU exposed a prosecutor of Kherson region of accepting 25,000 USD bribe (updated)

As a result of searches in Kherson, the NABU detectives have exposed a prosecutor of the Kherson local prosecutor`s office who solicited 30, 000 USD of improper advantage and received a 25,000 USD bribe for affecting the officials` decision to close criminal proceedings.

The prosecutor has been taken into custody upon suspicion of committing a crime prescribed in Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Improper influence"). On May 20 the Solomensky district court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in form  of 2 months temporary custody  with an alternative bail of more than 1,5 million UAH.

The pre-court investigation is in progress. The subject of bribe was retrieved and attached to the criminal proceeding. If found guilty, the prosecutor may face imprisonment from 3 to 8 years with seizure of property.

It should be reminded that on May 19 the NABU detectives in cooperation with the SAPO prosecutors and the National Police Department on Economy Defense officers conducted search in the premises of the Kherson local prosecutor`s office.
