More than 8,5 million UAH for giving 26 hectares of public land on lease – detectives detained two corrupted officials
The NABU detectives in cooperation with the prosecutors of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) have exposed and have taken into custody two village council officials of one locality in the Vasylkiv rayon of Kyiv region.
The head of the village council and a deputy of the village council solicited and then took a 300 thousand EUR and 10 thousand USD bribes for giving 26 hectares of public land on lease.
The suspects have been taken into custody in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The NABU detectives in cooperation with the SAPO prosecutors are preparing to issue a notice of suspicion for committing a criminal offense according to Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Accepting an offer, promise or receiving an improper advantage by an official”) and a request for a preventive measure for the detainees.
The investigation is in progress.
If found guilty the detainees may be imprisoned for a term from 8 to 12 years with disqualification to hold certain positions or to be engaged in certain activities for 3 years with forfeiture of property.
It should be reminded that on Wednesday, May 25, the NABU detectives in cooperation with prosecutors of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) and officers of the Kyiv Region National Police Economic Defense Department took into custody three participants of the corruption scheme of 50 million UAH public land embezzlement.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
