Clarification on the “Panama offshores” investigation

Upon numerous enquiries from mass media on whether the NABU will investigate information concerning the “Panama offshores”, we hereby affirm the following statements. 

According to the Law of Ukraine “On the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine” and the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, only high officials authorized to perform state functions or local government functions, in particular former President of Ukraine, are within the jurisdiction of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine. 

We emphasize that according to current laws, the acting President of Ukraine cannot be investigated by the Bureau and the Bureau is not authorized to start a pre-trial investigation of his actions. 

As for other inpiduals mentioned in the media reports, we are now conducting analytical work for the purpose of determining grounds for initiating pre-trial investigations.
