Future state leaders get integrity boost from NABU Director
A successful anti-corruption process involves a two-sided approach: public authorities must perform their duties conscientiously, and society must be transparent and fair.
This is how NABU Director Artem Sytnyk described the anti-corruption reform to the students of the Ukrainian Leadership Academy. He took part in the All-Ukrainian Forum "Sophia of Kyiv: Youth Leaders for State-Building" attended by over two hundred young people aged 16 to 20 from across the country.
"It is impossible to name the exact number of attempts to dismiss me or amend the Law on NABU, the number of provocations and (attempts to put) pressure on the NABU Detectives, but there is no doubt we work professionally. The Bureau's success formula is strict compliance with the law," Artem Sytnyk said.
The NABU Director recalled his path to the position and how the Bureau became a full-fledged anti-corruption agency, the achievements of detectives and sentences in their cases. He advised students against corruption in the education process and told them not to keep silent about violations by teachers and report them to law enforcement agencies.
"Ukraine has got an anti-corruption infrastructure. It seemed impossible just 7 years ago, but today it exists. We have reached the Rubicon point. We have done our best to ensure that students like you, who aspire to be state leaders, have the opportunity to express themselves," the NABU Director summed up.
The Ukrainian Leadership Academy is an educational platform for young people to develop leadership qualities. The project is one of the frontrunners in working with active youth and the most powerful youth leadership movement in Ukraine with a national network covering Kyiv, Lviv, Mariupol, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv.
