NABU and SAPO have served a notice of suspicion to another member of the criminal organization exposed during the large-scale special operation "Carthage". The individual in question is the former head of a department at the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO).

According to the investigation, the official played a key role in running the criminal scheme. He was directly responsible for communicating with representatives of illegal call centers and systematically receiving bribes from them. Additionally, his duties included ensuring the overall security and cover for members of the criminal organization, as well as involving other individuals in the unlawful activities.

The total documented illicit benefit exceeds UAH 1 billion.

The actions of the suspect fall under Part 3 of Article 368, and Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise, or receipt of an improper advantage by an official; aiding and abetting in the receipt of an improper advantage).

Investigative actions are ongoing. Efforts are underway to identify other individuals involved in the criminal organization.

Operation "Carthage" is a large-scale special operation aimed at dismantling a criminal organization that specialized in systematically providing "protection" to a network of illegal fraudulent call centers across Ukraine. The organization was led by a senior official from one of the PGO's structural units. In exchange for monthly payments, members of the organization guaranteed call center owners immunity from criminal prosecution.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
