Systemic and efficient fight against corruption is crucial for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction, - Semen Kryvonos
After the victory, significant international aid and investments will start coming to Ukraine for its reconstruction. Therefore, every investor must be confident that his rights are protected in the same way as in all civilized countries. This was stated by Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Semen Kryvonos during his speech at the Ukrainian panel of the OECD Global Anti-Corruption Forum 2023 in Paris.
"Investors must be sure their rights and freedoms are protected and count on the rules of the game that work in all the civilized countries. One of the main elements of fair play for participants in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine is a systematic and efficient fight against corruption," emphasized the head of NABU.
He added that for this purpose, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) need to strengthen their institutional capacity, including expanding the staff directly involved in the investigative process.
"The draft law on increasing NABU's staff has been submitted to the parliament. We hope it will be voted as soon as possible and in full," reported Semen Kryvonos.
At the same time, he emphasized that even with limited human resources, NABU continues to expose top-level corruption.
"The recent exposure of the head of the Supreme Court proves Ukraine has got an independent and effective anti-corruption system, able to hunt down any top official," noted Semen Kryvonos.
