$110,000 bribe demand: SBU officers and lawyer suspected (PHOTO)

NABU and SAPO have served notices of suspicion on the head of the investigative department at the SBU Office in the Poltava region, his subordinate, and a lawyer. They were caught red-handed while receiving USD 55,000 — the second tranche of the bribe.

According to the investigation, the SBU officers, acting through the lawyer as an intermediary, demanded a USD 110,000 bribe from an entrepreneur.

In return, they promised to enter into a plea agreement with the director of his company.

They also agreed to drop the criminal proceedings against the business.

The suspects’ actions fall under Part 4 Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered not-guilty in the commission of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until he or she is found guilty by court.
