Ukrzaliznytsia "diesel fuel" case: investigation completed

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have completed a pre-trial investigation into a corruption scheme resulting in UAH 103 million losses to the company during the purchase of diesel fuel for Ukrzaliznytsia PJSC. On July 14, 2021, the case materials were disclosed to three suspects:

Attempted bribery for a post in NABU: sentenced ex-prosecutor detained

Former Prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Oleksandr Matiushko, sentenced by the High Anti-corruption Court to two years in prison for a proposal of USD 10 thousand for a post in NABU, has been detained today by Detectives. He has been taken to a pre-trial detention center pending his transfer to a penal colony. As previously reported, the ex-prosecutor was declared wanted as he evaded serving his sentence after the HAAC verdict came into force in early February 2021.

NABU, SAPO investigations provoke strong resistance from the system, - Artem Sytnyk

The results of high-level corruption probes, as well as the prosecution of those previously considered "untouchable" in Ukraine, have provoked strong resistance from the system and an attack on the independence of anti-corruption agencies. This was emphasized by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk at the meeting with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on July 7, 2021.
