Attempted bribery for a post in NABU: sentenced ex-prosecutor detained

Former Prosecutor of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine Oleksandr Matiushko, sentenced by the High Anti-corruption Court to two years in prison for a proposal of USD 10 thousand for a post in NABU, has been detained today by Detectives. He has been taken to a pre-trial detention center pending his transfer to a penal colony. As previously reported, the ex-prosecutor was declared wanted as he evaded serving his sentence after the HAAC verdict came into force in early February 2021.

Indictment as of the PGO ex-official was sent to court

The investigation as of the facts of abuse of office by the former Head of one of the units of the Logistics Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine completed. On November 10, 2020, the indictment was sent to court. His actions are qualified under Part 2 Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.  

Ex-official of the PGO got a notice of suspicion

  On December 3, 2019, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office gave a notice of suspicion to ex-official of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO).
