"For almost 6 years of our work, we have tracked down Ukrainian corruption in about 80 countries. These are the countries where participants in NABU cases, namely high-ranking officials, took the funds stolen in Ukraine and later legalized them. It is difficult to name the amount that has been siphoned off from Ukraine through corruption schemes. We can assume we are talking about billions," said Artem Sytnyk, Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, during the III International Criminal Law Forum.

The Draft Law initiated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and said to tackle the situation after the infamous Constitutional Court's decision on NABU actually opens the way for a complete reset of the agency and attack on its institutional independence.

In the evening of December 1, 2020, the Prosecutor General secretly changed the prosecutors in the criminal proceeding as of the fact of giving improper advantage for unreliable written opinion of a forensic expert in the case of the misappropriation of UAH 81 mln of the National Guard of Ukraine. The Prosecutor General acted in the absence of any legal grounds, contrary to the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine without both notifying the prosecutors and studying the materials of the criminal proceedings.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and UkrOboronProm State Concern will cooperate in the field of preventing and combating corruption. On November 23, 2020, the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the Acting Director General of Ukroboronprom SC Ihor Fomenko signed a Memorandum, which defines the main areas of cooperation and obligations of the parties.

The National Bureau emphasizes on the need to restore the criminal liability for submitting false data to e-declarations by officials authorized to perform state or local government functions as soon as possible.
