On September 8, 2017, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) detained three persons on suspicion of 40 million UAH public funds embezzlement of the State Enterprise (SE) EuroAmmonia (Ukrchimtransamiak).
On August 4, 2017, the Odesa Territorial Office of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) officially started its work. The Office is allocated in Odesa. The main task of the Odesa Territorial Office (as well as the NABU Territorial Offices in Lviv and Kharikiv) is communication with the public and information processing (applications on corruption offenses under NABU`s jurisdiction). Also the Odesa Territorial Office will provide organizational support in investigations to the NABU Detectives in the Southern Regions of Ukraine.
On August 2, 2017, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) detained a person suspected of 27 million UAH public funds embezzlement of the State Enterprise (SE) National Nuclear Energy Generating Company (NNEGC) Energoatom. The detained person is suspected of committing a crime under Part 5 Article 27, Part 5 Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine («Misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by abuse of official post»).
In response to numerous requests from mass media with regards to reports that Paul Manafort`s Consulting firm had received 17 million USD from the Party of Regions in 2012-2014, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) inform on the following. The name of Paul Manafort was mentioned in 22 items in the period from November 20, 2007, to October 5, 2012, in the documents that were passed to the NABU by the Former First Deputy of the State Security Service of Ukraine Viktor Trepak in May 2016. According to the lists, a total sum of the money received amounts to 12.7 million USD.
Over the next two years the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (USA) (International Corruption Unit) will cooperate in investigations related to money laundering, international asset recovery and Ukrainian high-level officials’ bribery and corruption. This is stated in the Memorandum of Understanding between the NABU and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which was signed on June 29,2017, by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the Head of the FBI Criminal Division Matthew Moon.
