The United States provides comprehensive support for anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine, as the volume and speed of investment in the country's recovery are contingent on the effectiveness of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
On 16 October 2023, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, announced suspicions against the former director and the current head of the capital construction department of the municipal enterprise "Vinnytsiaoblvodokanal". Both are charged with embezzling funds on an especially large scale.
On Oct. 10, 2023, NABU and SAPO charged a Member of the Ukrainian Parliament with organizing the misappropriation of state property (natural gas) worth over UAH 2.1 billion and laundering unlawfully obtained income.
On Oct. 6, 2023, NABU and SAPO notified the former director of Ukrspecexport SE and the son of the former First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of suspicion of organizing and abusing official position, resulting in losses to the state worth UAH 13 million.
