FBI conducted a training for the NABU special forces
Instructors from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a 10-days training course “Special weapon and tactics in high risk operations” for the NABU special forces. The close-up meeting, held on June 22 at the NABU, was attended by the representatives of the Law Enforcement Affairs Section of the US Embassy Kyiv, FBI instructors and the NABU top management.
The First Deputy Director of the NABU Gizo Uglava expressed his gratitude to the US colleagues and his hopes for the future collaboration. The Deputy Director Anatoliy Novak stressed that trainings for special forces will continue. “The tactical officer has to live in three modes – sleeping mode, special operation mode and training mode. And we stick to this rule. We also hope that this 10-days course is not the last one and that with each visit the NABU will surprise you more and more”, stated A. Novak.
In total the U.S. Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers conducted a training for 15 NABU’s tactical officers and 5 officers of the National Police on the execution of high-risk warrants and other tactical law enforcement operations. The NABU special forces were trained in weapons skills under physical and psychological pressure, in speed and accuracy of fire, battle drill, identification of true targets, defining of potential threat, making wise tactical decisions in stressful situations. The soldiers were trained both inpidually and in groups.
All participants received special certificates and chevrons.
It should be reminded that in the end of June the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (International Corruption Unit) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This document established the parties’ joint work on crimes related to international money laundering, international asset recovery, and Ukrainian high-level officials’ bribery and corruption.
