Anti-Corruption Court will complete Ukrainian reforms - Artem Sytnyk

The establishment of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Court will be the final stage of anti-corruption and judicial reforms in Ukraine. This was stressed by Artem Sytnyk, the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) at the Symposium on the Phenomenon of Corruption held on June 16-18 in Berlin.

According to Artem Sytnyk, the Anti-Corruption Court will lead the NABU`s investigations to concluding point and will become the turning point of Ukraine's reform process.

"The establishment of the Anti-Corruption Court will become the final test for Ukraine and Ukrainian politicians," said NABU Director.

He reminded that more than 65 criminal proceedings were sent to court, but the trials haven’t started yet regarding 24 criminal proceedings. To illustrate the case, the NABU Director mentioned that the trial as of the case of unlawful influence on the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has not started yet even that more than 12 months passed.

According to the NABU Director, the establishment of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Court will create a true vertical for the efficient fight against corruption along with the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
