MoD honors 51 NABU employees with military awards

51 National Bureau employees who showed high professionalism during russia's armed aggression against Ukraine have been awarded medals “For Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, certificates and honorary certificates from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. 15 employees have been honored with firearms. Major Taras Pona, a NABU's special operations officer, who was killed in action near Bakhmut, has been posthumously awarded the "Badge of Honor".

"It is impossible to defeat us - almost all of Ukraine stands up to the enemy. This is the Armed Forces and the security and defense sector, which includes NABU and other law enforcement agencies, as well as all those who do their job and are ready to stand side by side at any moment. I sincerely thank the employees of the National Bureau for their work," Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine's Defense Minister said.

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the russian federation, the NABU employees, side by side with the Armed Forces and all law enforcement agencies, have been giving a worthy rebuff to the enemy, noted acting NABU Director Gizo Uglava.

"The war in Ukraine has been lasting for eight years. With the beginning of the all-out invasion, NABU joined the fight against the occupier as part of the Armed Forces, SOF. Detectives and analysts have worked to identify assets of oligarchs - sponsors of terrorism. Our entire team works for the victory of Ukraine. Our colleagues are holding the line in the hottest spots of the front. Unfortunately, we also have losses - two NABU officers died. We remember their feat and continue the fight," Gizo Uglava said.

As reported, in May 2022, the President of Ukraine honored seven NABU employees with state awards: the Order of Courage of the Third Degree, the Irreproachable Service Medal, the Defender of the Motherland Medal, and the Order of Danylo Halytsky.

In October, the President awarded Orders of Courage of the Third Degree to five employees of the National Bureau, who took part in counter-subversive activities in the Mykolaiv region. One of the officers, Ivan Hvozdev, was mortally wounded. He was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Gold Star.

We are proud of our colleagues and thank them for their contribution to our victory! We remember those who gave their lives for a peaceful sky over Ukraine.
