NABU and the IMF mission discussed results and challenges in fight against top-corruption in Ukraine

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) makes every effort to expose and prosecute senior officials on corruption, but facing constant resistance on this path, which can be overcome with a support of civil society and international partners. The NABU Director stressed on it during a meeting with the International Monetary Fund mission, which took place on May 24, 2019, in the NABU.

During the meeting, participants discussed ways to enhance the ability of the NABU as a pre-trial investigation authority. They talked about the issue of granting the NABU the right to wiretap independently, renewal criminal liability for illegal enrichment and providing audit of agency.

At the same time, the NABU Detectives have to face constant resistance of old system.

“We are grateful to the IMF for the constant attention to the topic of the fight against corruption and support of anti-corruption reform in Ukraine,” said Artem Sytnyk.
