NABU will cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland reached an agreement on future cooperation regarding joint work, information exchange and best practices sharing in preventing, exposing, stopping, investigating and solving corruption-related offences. The corresponding Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both Bureaus` directors in Warsaw.
“We have scrutinized the experience of Poland, Romania, Austria and other states in order to find the best anti-corruption model to be used in Ukraine. I`m positive it is very important to cooperate with anti-corruption bodies of other states as the corruption schemes, investigated by our detectives, spread further than Ukraine most of the times,” said NABU`s Director Artem Sytnyk. According to him, the Memorandum negotiations were underway since the last year.
“The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland is the closest to the NABU in terms of its structure and functions. Our analytics and detectives have already had a chance to learn from our Poland colleagues” said NABU’s Director.
The Memorandum of Understanding envisages information exchange regarding legislation, analytical notes, results of researches and other materials related to exposing, investigating and prevention of corruption offences. Within this frame, the NABU and the CBA are planning common activities, trainings, learning-by-doing programs, seminars, conferences and study visits, experts exchange and experience-sharing regarding technical and software innovations.The NABU’s senior staff study-visit was organized by the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine.
It should be reminded that the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau of Poland was created in 2006 for combating corruption in state (governmental bodies and local authorities) and private sector. The main CBA goal is to prevent, expose and stop corruption.
