UAH 80 million in losses: former Odesa Regional Council official served with suspicion

On Nov. 3, 2021, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) served the former head of the Property Relations Department of the Odesa Regional Council with a suspicion notice. He is charged with abuse of power resulting in UAH 80 million losses to the city. The actions of the suspect fall under Part 2 Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Attempted bribery of NABU, SAPO leadership: investigation of Ecology Minister completed

NABU and SAPO have completed a special investigation into the former Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources under President Yanukovych, who is suspected of an attempt to bribe the leadership of anti-corruption agencies to close criminal proceedings against him. On Oct. 28, 2021, the case materials were disclosed for review. The actions of the suspect fall under Part 3 Art. 27, Part 4 Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

HACC passes first prison sentence under plea deal

On Oct. 28, 2021, the High Anti-Corruption Court approved a plea deal, sentencing the former head of a branch of JSC "State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine" to 3.5 years in prison. The sentenced has also been stripped of the right to hold certain posts for 3 years and must pay a fine. This is for the first time in HACC's history, when a person has got a real prison term after a plea deal and not a suspended sentence.
