NABU Detectives gained new skills in investigating cryptocurrencies
The Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) found out where to search, how to effectively collect and analyse information as of cryptocurrency transactions. They gained new skills within the course on Investigating Criminal Use of Cryptocurrency. The training was held on October 14-25, 2019, at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Budapest, Hungary.
The participation of the representatives of other law enforcement agencies from Ukraine and Georgia became possible due to support of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
Within two-week course, the participants learned from the professionals of United States Secret Service (USSS) how to identify the origins of cryptocurrency accounts and trace the suspect transactions, were acquainted about the lawful seizure and forfeiture of illegal cryptocurrency. The USSS representatives also shared the successful cases of investigations of this type of crimes.
This training on the cryptocurrency was not the first one for the National Bureau employees. It should be reminded that in April 2019, the NABU Detectives and Analysts participated in the course on Cryptocurrency and Money Laundering organized by the International Centre for Asset Recovery experts.
