NABU and Romania's National Anticorruption Directorate agreed on cooperation and information exchange
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice Supreme Court of Cassation of Romania (Direcţia Naţională Anticorupţie, DNA) will strengthen cooperation in the area of detection and investigation of corruption offenses. The relevant Memorandum was signed by the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the Chief Prosecutor of the DNA Laura Codruța Kövesi at a working meeting in Bucharest on September 7, 2017.
In particular, the Parties will exchange information, experiences, and methods of combating corruption. Also the Memorandum envisages organization of joint trainings, workshops, seminars and meetings and supporting official communications.
The signing of the Memorandum was a logical continuation of cooperation between the NABU and the DNA. The anti-corruption institutions have positive experience of cooperation within the framework of international legal assistance.
The DNA has been twice involved in the execution of international investigative requests received from the NABU Detectives. All requested investigative actions were conducted qualitatively and without delay.
It should be reminded, that with assistance of the European Union Consultative Mission (EUAM), the prosecutors of the DNA have already shared experience with the NABU Detectives on the features of eliminating top-level corruption.
The working visit of the Director of the NABU was supported by the European Union's Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI).

The DNA was established in 2012. Over the next three years the Directorate headed by Laura Codruța Kövesi showed an impressive result in combating corruption at higher levels of government, bringing to justice five members of Parliament, two former ministers, the prime minister and hundreds of judges and prosecutors.
